Description

The Church of St John the Baptist is a Grade I listed building located on the south side of Tilsworth Road in Stanbridge. This former chapel of ease to Leighton Buzzard is constructed from ironstone with Totternhoe stone. The church features a south aisle and chancel, with the chancel dating from the late 15th century. It has slightly later arcades consisting of four bays supported by octagonal piers and double chamfered arches. The west tower and clerestory also date from the 15th century. Inside, there is an octagonal Jacobean pulpit. The church underwent significant restoration in the late 19th century.
