Description
Northley Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, which was reworked in the 19th century. It has a substantial timber-framed structure that is clad in red brick on the front and side elevations. The front of the roof is covered with 20th-century tiles, while the rear features a corrugated iron catslide roof that encases a steeper pitched clay tiled roof. The house has a two-room plan and is two storeys high, with 19th and 20th-century lean-to additions at the rear. Originally, the house was divided into two cottages in the 19th century, and the front elevation has two doorways at the centre. One of these doorways is now blocked, while the other has a casement window. On either side of the doorways are two 3-light casements. The ground floor openings have cambered heads, while the first floor features two 3-light casements and one off-centre 2-light casement. There is one red brick ridge stack and an external red brick stack on the right-hand gable end. Inside, the left-hand ground floor room retains a built-in corner cupboard with a moulded round arch.
