Description

The Old George Inn is a late 17th- to early 18th-century building. It is constructed of whitewashed brick with a tiled roof, featuring three gabled dormers. The main section has three sash windows, while a projecting one-story wing to the east has one window. The building’s central portion projects forward on the ground floor, matching the forward projection of the wing. A decorated architrave surrounds the front door, and a broad carriageway archway is present. The side elevation reveals exposed timber framework. The inn forms part of a group with numbers 1 to 7 (odd), 11 to 15 (odd), and 21 to 37 (odd) Woburn Street, and forms another group with numbers 21 to 37 (odd) Chapel Lane.
