Description
The Barns is a country house that dates back to 1630 and was altered in 1760. It features colour-washed roughcast and an old tile roof, standing two storeys tall. The left side of the building is recessed while the right side projects, with a total of eight leaded casement windows arranged in a 3:1:4 pattern. The left side includes three half dormer windows. The central block has an arched porch in antis that was added in 1949. The right side, which was added in the early 19th century, features a similar porch and a gabled half dormer window. The house has 19th-century chimney stacks with grouped diagonal shafts. The north elevation showcases a mid-18th-century bay window that is rounded internally. Inside, there is a mid-18th-century open string staircase with turned balusters and a moulded handrail. The first floor includes a barrel vaulted passage and three original ceilings with coved cornices. The Barns and the Barn form a group.
