Description
Bletsoe Castle is a late 16th-century mansion that was reduced from three storeys to two storeys in the 19th century and has since been modernised. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features old clay tiles on a hipped roof. At the rear, there is a double gabled wing and an overlapping central external stack. The front elevation includes eight mullion and transom casements with three and four lights, all with glazing bars, as well as a plinth and a first-floor band. There are two doorways with four-centred arches, carved spandrels, and moulded surrounds. The original chimneys on the rear elevation have been retained but at reduced heights. Additionally, some rear windows still have their original hood moulds, and there are signs of attachments for demolished buildings at the southeast end of the main range.
