Description
Nos. 2 and 3 Oldway is a house with origins dating back to around 1500, featuring several later building phases up to the late 17th century, along with a small 19th-century rear extension. The structure is made of coursed limestone rubble that partly replaces the original timber framing, which has colourwashed plaster infill, and includes ironstone quoins and coping on the gable end facing the Avenue. The roof is covered with old clay tiles, while the small extension has thatch. The building's plan has developed through at least five phases, starting with an open hall. Within this hall, one side of a smoke bay remains, which originally had a one-sided stone chimney that was later modified to include a second side back-to-back, along with an early red brick ridge stack. The house stands two storeys tall and features several old casement windows.
