Description

No. 36 The Avenue is a cottage with origins dating back to the 16th or 17th century. It has been modernised and extended at the rear. The exterior features colourwashed plaster over a timber frame and a thatched roof, with two external gable end chimneys made of colourwashed limestone rubble. The cottage has a three-room plan, with the central room containing a one-sided hearth that has been inserted into an earlier smoke bay, which is partly preserved in the roof structure. The building is one storey with attics and is included for its group value.
