Description

Shires House, now located within Bedford Health Village, is a late 18th-century building designed in 1796 by John Wing. Constructed of red brick with a tiled roof, it is three storeys high and features hipped dormers in the attic. The building has a recessed central section with a fenestration pattern of 2:7:2 sashes, each window set in a reveal and topped with a cutter flat arch. A central arched entrance is adorned with an ornamental fanlight and a surround of Doric pilasters, finished with a small cornice.
