Description
This row of four buildings fronts High Street and was constructed in the 17th century or earlier, with alterations occurring between the 19th century and late 20th century. The buildings are arranged on a T-shaped plan. The pitched roof is covered with asbestos tiles and features a red brick chimneystack to the ridge between numbers 27 and 29, as well as a box dormer window to numbers 27 and 29. The buildings originally had timber framing, but now have brick facades to High Street, with the first floor level stuccoed, featuring channelled quoins. Number 33 has two bays of six-over-six timber sash windows with horns, which were replaced in the late 20th century. Numbers 29 and 31 feature a tripartite window; the central light is a two-over-two sash window with horns. Number 27 has a four-light window, with each light containing arched radiating glazing bars; the central two lights form a segmental bow with a bowed parapet above. The ground floor shopfronts were replaced in the late 20th century.
