Description
35 High Street is a commercial building constructed around 1835. It features a rectangular plan facing west towards High Street, with a long extension at the rear. The building stands three storeys high and is three bays wide. Its pitched roof is covered with Welsh slate and is concealed behind a stepped parapet, with a red brick chimneystack on both the north and south gables. The front elevation facing High Street is stuccoed, while the south gable reveals exposed red brick laid in Flemish bond. Each of the second and first floors has a plain cornice above architrave window surrounds; the second floor contains six-over-six pane timber sash windows with horns, and the first floor has six-over-nine pane timber sash windows with horns, all of which were replaced in the late 20th century. The shopfront was replaced around 1995.
