Description

Sharnbrook House is a building originally constructed in 1749, as indicated by the dated rainwater heads. It was extended and altered in 1912 by Clyde Young in a neo-Georgian style, with further modifications and conversion taking place in 1951. The house is built of red brick, featuring some vitrified headers and stone quoins, and has an old clay tile hipped roof. The layout is H-plan with a half bay extension to the southeast and a two bay extension to the northwest. The rear of the house was mainly rebuilt and extended in 1912. The original front elevation consists of three bays, with the central bay being slightly recessed. The building has two storeys and attics, with a central pediment and bracketed eaves. There are box dormers and two sash windows with glazing bars on each floor of each bay, set in flush moulded frames beneath flat arches. A storey band runs across the facade, and the central bay has been altered.
