Description

Cherry Cottage is a 17th-century property, originally built as a pair of houses. The north-facing elevation is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with the eastern two bays raised in the 19th century using brick that was subsequently colourwashed. The northern section now stands two storeys high and has a tiled roof, while the remainder is single-storey with attics and a thatched roof. The north elevation features three first-floor leaded casement windows, the western one being an eyebrow dormer, and four ground-floor leaded casements with timber lintels. The south-facing elevation, the main entrance front, faces away from the road. A central projecting wing, of one storey and attics, is present, constructed of coursed rubble and thatched. The east elevation of this wing has a nearly 19th-century doorcase with a six-panelled door. The south elevation of the main building incorporates 20th-century leaded casement windows. A 20th-century lean-to stone entrance lobby is located at the east end, and a 20th-century single-storey extension is situated at the west end.
