Description
Abbey Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is timber framed with colour washed brick infill and has a 20th-century tiled roof. The building is designed in an H-plan and has two storeys, with a northern cross-wing that features lighter studding, possibly indicating a slightly later construction date. The ground floor has a 1:3:2 arrangement of casement windows, with the right-hand wing having leaded lights. The first floor has a 1:2:1 arrangement of casements, with the right-hand one also being leaded. A substantial red brick chimney stack is located on the central block. The other elevations display a similar mix of plain and leaded casements. At the rear of the southern cross-wing, there is a range of 18th-century one-storey outbuildings, also timber framed and topped with a 20th-century tiled roof. Additionally, there is a 20th-century extension at the rear of the northern wing.
