Description

The Baxter Monument, located on the north-east side of The Ringway, was created in 1875 by Sir Thomas Brock. It features a standing figure of Richard Baxter, made of white marble, set on a pedestal of Aberdeen granite. Baxter was a notable cleric during the Stuart period, serving as curate and later vicar of Kidderminster from 1641 to 1660. Originally situated in the Bull Ring, the monument includes an inscription that reads: "In a stormy and divided age he advocated unity and comprehension pointing the way to the everlasting rest."
