Description
The sculpture of the Angel of Peace at St Mary and All Saints Church is a war memorial created in 1922, designed by R.A. Drury, R.A. It features a bronze figure set on a square-section limestone plinth. The sculpture depicts the Angel of Peace descending to the world, holding the Child of the Future in her left hand and an olive branch in her right hand. On the front of the plinth, there is a bronze laurel wreath and a bronze plaque that shows a relief of a recumbent man, symbolizing a fallen soldier, being crowned by Immortality, while figures of a widow and an orphan pay their respects. This sculpture is part of a significant war memorial located in the center of Kidderminster, honoring the many local individuals who lost their lives in both World Wars. It is grouped with tablets that record the names of the deceased from the two World Wars, as well as the Church of St. Mary and All Saints.
