Description

Deasland Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 15th century and was extended in 1611, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. It features a timber-frame structure with brick infill and a machine tile roof. The building consists of four framed bays arranged in a north/south orientation, with a baffle-entry positioned against a central stack. There is also a stack on the south gable, where the south bay is a 17th-century extension of the earlier structure. Both stacks have shafts designed in a 6-point star plan.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and has five windows. On the upper floor, there is a 3-light casement window to the left, followed by a slightly projecting 4-light 17th-century oriel window with ovolo mullions beneath a gable, a single light window, a 3-light casement, and a 2-light casement. On the ground floor, there is a central entrance with two windows to the left and three to the right, all of which are casements of varying sizes. The porch is timber-framed and features elaborate low relief carving on the bargeboards and tie-beam, which is dated 1611.

The framing of the 15th-century part includes two large rectangular panels at a high level with a curved tension brace, supported by two small square panels. Inside, there are two cruck trusses that flank the central chimney stack.
