Description

A barn range dating to the late medieval period and the 18th century, constructed with a timber frame on a blue lias stone plinth. The exterior is largely weatherboard cladding, with a rubble stone addition at the East end. The roof is a mix of plain tile to the South side and corrugated iron and stone tiles to the North side, with a half-hipped West gable. The barn comprises eight bays. The western three bays are of late medieval origin, featuring three full cruck trusses with arch braces to the collar, and one later collar and tie-beam truss. The third bay contains a large, projecting gabled cart entrance on the South side, incorporating a collar and tie-beam truss with angle posts and wind bracing. The remaining five bays date to the 18th century and have a taller stone plinth and plain central cart openings on each side. These bays contain one tie-beam and collar truss with angle struts, one tie-beam truss with angle struts, and four tie-beam and collar trusses with queen struts and angle struts.
