Description
The haybarn, located about 95 yards south-west of The Star Inn, was built in the early 20th century, likely by the architect Ernest Newton for Richard Biddulph Martin. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble, featuring some weatherboarding and a half-hipped plain tiled roof. The building has a rectangular two-bay plan with raking buttresses at the south-west corner. The gable ends are weatherboarded, and the main entrance is situated at the north end. Inside, the roof includes two intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts. This haybarn was designed to serve the adjacent stable block. Both the haybarn and the stable block are noted as a rare example of an Arts and Crafts architect's approach to agricultural building design, and they are included for their group value.
