Description
Pike Cottage is a toll house from the early 19th century that has been altered and extended in the mid-20th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and limestone ashlar, featuring hipped slate and plain tiled roofs, along with a large brick ridge stack. The building is in an L-plan and consists of two storeys in a Gothick style.
The south front elevation has two bays; the left bay is ashlar-faced and canted, showcasing pointed Y-traceried windows. The central section features a blind window on the first floor and a blocked doorway. The right bay includes a 2-light window on both floors. The main entrance is now located on the east side, which has a mid-20th century half-glazed door set within a small lobby. A rear range has been added in the 20th century.
