Description
The Star Inn is a public house that was originally built as a house in the early 19th century, with some alterations and additions made in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble faced with painted brick and has a slate roof. It features gable-end parapets with ashlar coping and brick ridge end stacks. The inn is two storeys high and has a cogged eaves course at the front.
The façade consists of three bays, with windows on the ground floor that have gauged flat heads. All the windows are 12-pane sashes with stone sills. The central entrance is notable for its entablature supported by Doric columns, a door with four raised panels, and a barred segmental fanlight above. At the rear, there is a large two-storey wing that includes a 6-pane sash window with a cambered head on the ground floor and a 4-pane sash window on the first floor, both facing the main road. Additionally, there is a single-storey flat-roofed addition from the 20th century that is attached to the right gable end of the main building.
