Description

Coffin Bridge No 34 is an early 19th-century canal accommodation bridge located on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. It is constructed of red brick with blue brick coping on the parapet. The bridge features an elliptical arch with cambered sides. The parapet has a two-course band at its base, is splayed at each end, and is finished with square piers. The Worcester and Birmingham Canal was built for the Earl of Dudley between 1791 and 1815 to connect the Birmingham Canal Navigations with the River Severn, primarily to transport coal from the Black Country to the south-west Midlands. The towpath runs beneath the east side of the bridge.
