Description
Hadzor Bridge No 33 is an early 19th-century canal accommodation bridge located on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. It is constructed of red brick, featuring blue brick and dressed sandstone coping on the parapet, which has been partially repaired with concrete. The bridge has an elliptical arch with cambered sides. The parapet includes a two-course band at its base, is splayed at each end, and is finished with square piers. The number 33 is inscribed on a square stone positioned above the arch. The Worcester and Birmingham Canal was built for the Earl of Dudley between 1791 and 1815 to connect the Birmingham Canal Navigations with the River Severn, primarily to facilitate the transport of coal from the Black Country to the south-west Midlands. A towpath runs beneath the east side of the bridge.
