Description

Westfield Farm Bridge No 36 is an early 19th-century canal accommodation bridge located on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. It is constructed of red brick and features sandstone coping on the parapet. The bridge has an elliptical arch with cambered sides. The parapet includes a two-course band at its base, is splayed at each end, and is terminated by square piers, although it has been rendered. The Worcester and Birmingham Canal was built for the Earl of Dudley between 1791 and 1815 to connect the Birmingham Canal Navigations with the River Severn, primarily to facilitate the transport of coal from the Black Country to the West Midlands. The towpath runs beneath the east side of the bridge.
