Description

Kemises House is a 17th-century house constructed of blue lias stone, with a plain tile roof. It comprises a main range and an east-side cross-wing, both gabled towards the street. The house is two storeys and has an attic, with one dormer window on the main range and a large external chimney stack on the east wall of the cross-wing. The main range has two windows above a single window and a door on the ground floor; all are casement windows. A modern tiled porch shelters the entrance door. The cross-wing features one casement window above and a triple casement window below. A small addition on the west end has a single window range with a casement window featuring top lights to the first floor. The house is named for Thomas Kemiss, who owned the property around 1770.
