Description

Mill Cottage is a house dating to circa 1700. It is timber-framed with painted brick infill on a stone base, and has a thatched roof. The timber framing is arranged in two rows of square panels with straight braces to the wall-plate. The house is one storey high with an attic. It has two casement windows on the ground floor and one eyebrow dormer. The left-hand (south-east) gable shows an exposed truss with struts below the collar and V-struts above. A projection containing a stone oven with a thatched roof is situated on the ground floor. The right-hand gable is half-hipped, and a chimney with a stone cap is located on the left-hand gable. Inside, the parlour has an open-hearth fireplace and an oven.
