Description

Upper Battenhall Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse, with alterations from the 18th and mid-19th centuries. It is timber-framed with brick infill, with brick additions, and has a tile roof. The farmhouse is arranged as a “T” shape; the main body extends to the east, with a two-bay timber-framed section, and a further 18th-century brick bay added to the east. The south front has two storeys with a gabled attic. A gabled wing is on the left, and a gable with a wall-plate is on the right, both featuring tiled pentices at the collar and tie-beam level. The fenestration is irregular, with four windows. Three windows are to the left, consisting of two 3-light casements, and one 4-pane sash window to the right in the 18th-century extension. On the ground floor, there are three windows: two 3-light casements, and a glazing bar sash window on the right-hand side.
