Description
No. 19 Friar Street in Worcester is likely a former house and shop, now functioning as a shop with offices above. It probably dates from around 1739, although it may have origins from the 16th century, with later additions and alterations including a 19th and 20th-century shop front. The front facade is made of painted brick and features a renewed plain tile roof. The building has two storeys with an attic and two first-floor windows. The first floor includes 6/6 sash windows set in near-flush, cambered arched frames, with cambered arches above and stone sills. There is a modillion eaves band and two gabled full dormers with casement windows. The ground floor has an entrance to a passage on the left, followed by a timber shop front that includes a renewed glazed door and a multi-pane shop window on the apron, along with a frieze. Inside, there are chamfered beams and exposed timber framing. Historical surveys indicate that the adjacent No. 21 was newly built in 1739.
