Description
This pair of cemetery chapels, designed by G R Clarke in 1867, is located on Rectory Road in Upton-upon-Severn. The chapels are built in stone and feature a distinctive T plan, with the Anglican Chapel oriented east-west and the office and Dissenters Chapel in an attached range running north. A picturesque bell tower sits over the office, topped with a plain tiled pyramid roof and featuring paired bell openings and an iron cross. The Gothic arched door has carved heads, while the Dissenters Chapel has three bays with lancet windows. The Anglican Chapel also has three bays, including a three-sided apse, and features trefoil-headed lancets, both single and paired, along with a three-light window. Inside, there are three stained glass windows, including an east window from around 1870 by Heaton, Butler and Bayne, and two south windows from around 1875. Notably, the architect G R Clarke, who lived from 1829 to 1908, is buried to the southeast of this chapel.
