Description

This is a 16th-century timber-framed house, originally built in an L-shape and expanded over at least two phases. The south front is two stories tall, while the west front is one and a half stories high. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The exterior features exposed timber framing with painted brick infill. Notable are two large rear chimney stacks from the late 16th century, constructed with diagonally set paired brick shafts. The south front has a three-window arrangement of 19th-century iron-framed windows with small panes and top lights, including triple windows to the side and double windows in the center. A projecting timber porch, also from the 19th century and tiled, faces the south. Modern windows are on the west front, which also includes a dormer. Exposed timbers are visible in the north gable. The roof structure includes queen post collar-and-tie beam trusses. Inside, there are two fine, later 16th-century Tudor-arched fireplaces with molded jambs and spandrels.
