Description

No. 40 Old Street is an early 19th century building that features a red brick refacing of an earlier 17th century timber-frame house. It stands three storeys tall and has plain tile roofs. The first floor has three windows with segmental heads, with a blank centre window that displays a late 19th century painted Licensing Act board. There is one window above the first floor. The building has exposed box sliding sashes and a 19th century shopfront, which includes a plate glass window flanked by doors and an overall fascia. Inside, the original timber framing is visible. This building was formerly known as the Seven Stars Public House.
