Description
This is an early 17th-century timber-framed house located on the south side of New Street, Upton-Upon-Severn. The front of the house was later rendered with stucco in the 18th century. It is two storeys high and has a plain tile roof. The ground floor has been altered with a modern neo-Georgian style façade. Above, there are two windows, which are glazing bar sash windows. The corners of the building are accentuated with angle quoins. A wooden eaves cornice in a naive classical style runs along the top, featuring bead and anthemion moulding. Embossed plaster decoration is visible between the windows, representing swags and plant tendrils, and incorporates a printed date of 1668, previously reading "Estd. 1668". Exposed timber-framing is visible inside the house and in the rear gable. The building formerly operated as the Bell Public House.
