Description

No. 2 New Street is a mid to late 18th century refronting of a timber frame house dating back to around 1600. The building is constructed from stuccoed brick and features two storeys plus an attic. It has a plain tile roof with one gabled dormer. The front has a two-window range of 19th century sliding sash windows with exposed boxes. The ground floor has been modernized. Inside, the timber framing is visible, particularly within and at the rear gable. The rear first floor room showcases late 18th century plasterwork, including a frieze with swags and flower trails interlacing a reeded circle in the ceiling.
