Description
The stables and coach house, located west of Witley Court, were built in the late 18th century and later extended and enlarged around 1860 by S. Daukes for Lord Ward, the first Earl of Dudley. The structure is made of rendered red brick and encloses three courtyards to the west of the main house. The entry is at the west end, flanked by rectangular lodge-type coach houses. The central range runs north to south and features a principal porte-cochère, with an additional north-south range to the west that leads to a smaller courtyard at the rear, connected by a curved link range to the orangery. The stable accommodation includes tack rooms and additional coach houses that flank the courtyards. The entrance lodges are single-storey with pediments, while the central ranges are two-storey, with the principal range featuring a clock cupola. The window openings have slightly cambered heads, and there are two doorways flanking the principal porte-cochère. The building was in a ruinous state at the time of survey in 1984 and is included for its group value with Witley Court.
