Description
Wellingtonia House is a former rectory built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features a plain tile roof adorned with ornamental cresting. The house has a Tudor style and a square plan, with a projecting northeast wing. It is two stories high with an attic and has a cluster of four tall ridge stacks on the south side, a triple stack on the northeast gable, and a double stack on the north side wall.
The windows throughout the building are iron lattice with hoodmoulds above. The various gables are all coped and shouldered, featuring midway kneelers and finials. The main south front includes a gable on the left and a hipped dormer on the right. The ground floor windows are designed with mullion and transom, while the first-floor windows are mullioned, arranged in a two-window range. At the southeast corner, there is a gabled porch displaying the Dowdeswell arms. The west front mirrors this design with a gable on the left and a two-storey bay window with a hipped roof on the right. The east side has two gables, with a lower kitchen range extending east from the right gable. The house is listed for its group value with the Church of Saint Peter.
