Description
The Old School is a former school building dating from the mid-19th century, constructed incorporating elements of a 16th or early 17th century house. It is timber-framed and plaster with plain tiled roofs. The northern section is a one-and-a-half-story L-shaped house with a north-end stack. The front wall features close studding. All windows have 19th-century iron lattice glazing. There are two ornamental dormers with bargeboards and finials. A four-light ground floor window and entrance door are also present. The north side is brick-cased, but the rear East gable shows exposed timbers. Attached to the south end is a mid-19th century schoolroom with an ornamental West gable, featuring bargeboards, a finial, and a large five-light mullion and transom window. A lean-to porch is located in the angle to the older range. The south front has a gabled projection and two mullion and transom windows. The schoolroom contains a carved stone fireplace dated 1617. The school was built for the Pull Court estate.
