Description

The monument to the Cowcher family is a chest tomb located about 7 metres north of the vestry of the Church of St Kenelm in Clifton upon Teme. It commemorates Mr John Cowcher, who died in 1827, and is signed by W Milton. The tomb is made of ashlar stone and features a ridge and hipped top, with reeded pilasters at the ends and shaped inscription panels adorned with corner paterae. The south face of the tomb bears the inscription: "Sacred to the memory of Mr John Cowcher late of this parish who died April 2nd 1827 aged 67 years." The north face includes an inscription for Mary Cowcher, who died in 1839.
