Description
Meneatt Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 15th century, with alterations made in the late 16th to early 17th centuries and the 19th century. It features a timber-frame structure with painted brick infill and some brick rebuilding. The roof is plain tiled and has off-centre back stacks. The original hall has a cross-passage to the left and a rebuilt T-plan solar wing on the right. The hall range is single storey with attics and consists of two bays, featuring 19th and 20th-century casement windows and large dormer windows. The solar range is two storeys with attics, having a single bay on the front and side elevations and two bays on the rear elevation, which displays close studding. It includes 3- and 4-light casement windows, some with chamfered mullions, a former lean-to porch in the re-entrant angle, and a projecting brick stack at the rear with linked angular chimneys. Inside, there is one full cruck truss, cut off at a lower level, in the centre of the hall range, and another cruck truss embedded in the west wall of the adjoining solar range. The hall has an inserted ceiling with chamfered beams and a re-used moulded beam that features a fragment of recessed panelling in the upper part. The solar wing contains chamfered beams with scrolled stops, and the ground floor front room has a framed ceiling.
