Description

This is a chest tomb dedicated to the Haywood family, located about 6 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St Kenelm in Clifton upon Teme. The tomb commemorates James Haywood, who died in 1817. It is constructed from ashlar stone and features a moulded cornice at the top. The tomb has a shaped inscription panel with decorative paterae in the corners and borders adorned with relief husks. The inscription on the south face reads: "In memory of/ Mr James Haywood/ late of ...../ who died Aug ... 8th 1817/ Aged ... years".
