Description
Worcester Lodge is a lodge dating to around 1860, likely designed by S Daukes for Lord Ward, the first Earl of Dudley of Witley Court. It stands at the Worcester entrance to Witley Park. The lodge is constructed of ashlar with slate mansard roofs and is executed in an Italianate style. It is T-shaped with quadrant porches, and includes a 20th-century extension to the rear, as well as a single-storied attic. Features include a moulded plinth, channeled rustication, a complete entablature, and a balustraded parapet with corner urn finials. A canted bay window is present at one end, featuring three windows, Tuscan pilasters, a dentilled cornice, and a balustraded parapet forming a balcony to a pedimented dormer above. The dormer has scrolls to the upper balustrade, a semi-circular arched window, decorative spandrels, and windows at both ends in slightly forward breaks, all with matching cornices, balustrades and dormers. The lodge has plain sash windows and six-panelled doors within quadrant porches supported on unfluted Ionic columns, also with matching cornices and balustrading above.
