Description
Lanehouse Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, which was remodeled in the late 18th century and has some alterations from the late 19th and mid-20th centuries. It features a timber frame with rendered infill that has been extended in brick, topped with a tile and slate roof. The building is in an L-plan, with the 17th-century section extending to the northwest and the 18th-century section to the northeast.
The garden front, facing southeast, is two stories high and has a dentilled brick cornice. It includes three windows with glazing-bar sashes set beneath rubbed brick heads. The central entrance on the ground floor features an open pedimented doorcase supported by engaged Doric columns, with panelled reveals and a six-panel door. The framing consists of three square panels high to the first floor with straight tension braces, while the ground floor is close-studded. The gable-end truss has a collar with multiple struts and trenched purlins.
