Description
The Old Dairy, located about 20 yards north of Hagley Hall, is a dairy building that has been converted into a summer house. It was constructed in the mid- to late 18th century and is made of sandstone ashlar with shallow-pitched slate roofs and a small ridge stack. The building has a rectangular plan designed to resemble a Tuscan amphiprostyle tetrastyle temple, featuring smooth columns with a noticeable curve (entasis) and a simple entablature. There are 6-panelled doors at the center of the inner wall on both ends, along with a half-glazed door on the south side and an entrance to the basement. Inside, the structure has three bays with blind round-headed arcading on the side walls, which includes niches in the outer bays, and is tiled up to the impost level. The Old Dairy is situated within the private garden to the north of Hagley Hall.
