Description

The Queens Head Public House is a late 18th-century building that was refronted in the mid-19th century and features a late 19th-century extension. It is constructed of red brick with Welsh slate and plain-tile roofs, along with brick stacks at the ends and rear. The main range is three stories tall and has two windows, featuring 16-pane unhorned sashes beneath painted stone lintels. The building has bracketed eaves.

On the ground floor, there is a central doorway with a painted 'Gibbs' surround and a curved pediment topped with a projecting lantern. The entrance consists of a two-leaved part-glazed door with a cambered lintel that has a keystone depicting a female head in high relief. To the right of the doorway is a sash window, and to the left is a canted bay window. The left end of the building has a two-story extension designed in a similar style, which includes a three-light window on both floors and a doorway to the left. There are also two-story wings at the rear.

Inside, the pub features chamfered spine beams, with the beam in the room to the right having ogee stops. There is a mid-19th-century marbled slate fireplace and an early to mid-19th-century cast-iron grate in the attic room. Some engraved glass panels are present in the ground floor partitions, and old purlins are partly visible in the rear wing.
