Description
A terrace of three houses at 3, 5, and 7 Waterloo Road, dating from around 1850, now used as offices. The building is constructed of stucco with ashlar dressings and has a hipped slate roof. It follows a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with a basement, showcasing a six-window front. A sill band marks the first floor, while a Greek-key frieze with a sill course, a top frieze, and a dentil cornice run along the upper levels. The basement has a variety of openings, most of which have been altered. The ground floor features tripartite windows within eared architraves, incorporating sashes, though number 3 has a plate glass window. The first floor windows are casements with friezes, consoled cornices, and scrolled cresting with anthemions; those at number 3 have some leaded glazing, while numbers 5 and 7 have cast-iron balconies. The second floor has four-pane sashes in eared architraves with keystones. The round-headed entrances are distinguished by panelled pilasters, archivolts, and keystones. Plain iron area railings and steps lead to the entrances, which are topped by solid parapets. Two cross-axial chimney stacks are present. The left return elevation features returned detailing of the second-floor frieze and sill band, along with the top frieze and cornice, and has sashed windows. The interior has not been inspected.
