Description
Jenyns Lodge is a lodge that is now part of a hospice, built around 1845 by Edward Banks. It features an attached wall extending approximately 47 meters to the right, which turns at a 10-meter canted angle and continues for 20 meters to a gate on Finchfield Hill. The building is constructed of stuccoed brick and has hipped slate roofs with stuccoed stacks, showcasing an Italianate style. It is a single-storey structure with a three-window range and a rear range that projects to the left. The lodge has quoin strips and 2-light windows in plain surrounds that flank the entrance, which is highlighted by a hipped Tuscan porch and a six-panelled door, with the top two panels being glazed. There is a large cross-axial stack on the building. The rear of the lodge features 2-light windows, a lean-to porch to the left, and two cross-axial stacks. The attached wall is made of stone ashlar and has roll-moulded coping. The section facing Finchfield Hill is stepped up and includes some later masonry courses.
