Description
The entrance gateway and attached roadside wall, located to the northeast of Beckminster House, date from the mid-19th century. Constructed from ashlar sandstone and coursed dressed sandstone, the main entrance is flanked by pairs of square-sectioned gatepiers connected by quadrant walls featuring Gothic Revival arcading. The arcaded wall has a chamfered plinth and roll moulded copings, while the gatepiers have pyramidal and octagonal tops with differing designs. A matching section of arcaded wall extends to the left and ends at an ashlar end pier. To the right of the gateway, the roadside wall is made of coursed sandstone and continues in four steps for approximately 45 meters before ending at another pier. This structure is included for its group value with Beckminster House.
