Description
The Holy Trinity Almshouses, located to the west of the Church of Holy Trinity in Heath Town, Wolverhampton, were built around 1850 for Henry Rogers. This terrace of six almshouses is designed in the Jacobean style and constructed from roughcast brick with a tile roof and roughcast stacks. The building is single-storey with an attic and features a six-window range. The ends of the terrace project forward under shaped gables with kneelers, although the upper parts were missing at the time of the last survey in 1990.
The windows, which have dripstones, are currently blocked but were previously recorded as having casements. The upper windows are situated beneath the shaped gables. The entrances, located between the windows and at the right end, have elliptical heads and are set in slightly projecting porches with shaped gables. The recessed doors are also blocked, but they were noted to have enriched wrought-iron strap hinges. A panel in the center under the eaves bears a worn inscription that reads: "GIVE GOD THE GLORY."
The gables are coped, with the right gable returning in a shaped form. There is a truncated end stack to the left and five cross-axial stacks with diagonal shafts, though the caps are missing. The rear of the building features ends that break forward under shaped gables, paired blocked entrances, and the ends of projecting walls. At the time of the last survey, the almshouses were derelict.
