Description

Birmingham Canal No 15 Lock is a canal lock built around 1770 by engineers Brindley, Whitworth, and Simcock. It is constructed of brick with some stone coping. The lock features double lower gates and a single upper gate. There is a stone set into the flanking wall outside the lower gate inscribed with "No.15/1861," which likely indicates a repair or reconstruction that took place in that year. This lock is part of a flight of 21 locks on the Birmingham Canal at the Wolverhampton level.
