Description
The Meerkat Enclosure at Dudley Zoo, built with reinforced concrete, features apsidal ends, being wider at the west end than at the east. It is surrounded by a continuous low wall topped with a wide coping that dips on the north side, where a horizontal tubular metal bar is inset. The wall displays upright reeding from the use of corrugated iron shuttering and retains its original colour and finish. The enclosure is well-integrated into the landscape, taking advantage of its location below the castle keep, which creates a striking backdrop.
