Description

The Council House, built between 1913 and 1917 by Edward Garret and H W Simister of Birmingham, is designed in the Elizabethan style. Constructed from sandstone ashlar, it features a mainly symmetrical front with a central belfry and a large central porch that is flanked by gilded armorial decorations beneath giant figures. The building has many gables and includes a clock tower on the right side. Notable details include fine lead rainwater heads.
