Description

Bonds Hospital is a building from the early 16th century, founded by the will of Thomas Bond, who died in 1506. It underwent significant restoration between 1832 and 1834. The structure primarily features close studded timber framing, with some areas of modern brickwork and ashlar stone at the east end. It has a gabled tiled roof adorned with carved bargeboards and first-floor oriel windows that sit above plaster coves. The windows are diamond lattice casements, and there are massive ashlar chimney stacks. The west end bay was rebuilt in 1834, and the back wing was extended in 1816 and again between 1846 and 1847.
